Farmer's Almanac: A Work of Fiction - Chris Fink This isn't something you should read when you're looking for a pick-me-up. These everyday stories of rural life can be brutally honest about the harsh realities of farming, small-town life, and just life in general. The writing is so descriptive. I've read this over the course of a few months, and certain images have stuck with me - waiting to shoot pheasants with your rich girlfriend, picking up stones, watching thugs trash your lawn, and watching a school bus emerge from the fog. This is a great contribution to midwestern literature.(Full disclosure: I'm a friend of the author from college.)
