Once I read and disliked "Dork Diaries," I decided I had better read the other Wimpy-Kid-ish books out there too. This one was much better. Nate is hardly a role model, but he's a decent kid who seems to get in trouble easily. The book basically covers one day at Nate's elementary school. There's no mom in his family, which is unusual, and there are lots of awful teachers, which are unfortunately pretty common in kids' books. I didn't laugh out loud often, but I smiled a lot. Good for upper-elementary kids.
