I finished this a few days ago, and have since felt a bit like I'm in mourning. I listened to the majority on audio, and loved the narrator. I think the audio especially brought Emma to life - so witty and real - yet the drawn-out nature of audio made some of Dexter's shortcomings harder to handle. The format makes you look at life in a slightly different way, which is the book's strength. I was eager to hear what was up at the start of a new year, and gained a sense of perspective on their lives that an average chronology wouldn't have conveyed.
