Eight Keys - Suzanne LaFleur This covers a lot of coming-of-age territory: changing friendships, standing up for yourself, understanding your history and contemplating your place in the world. It does it well, with a sympathetic main character and an interesting almost-mystery involving the eight keys. It's a hard book to review as an adult - unlike other kids' books, there's not much going on besides the character growth, which isn't so exciting once you've gone through that part of your life. But for the right kids (probably girls, around 11) this could be an important read at a critical time.
